My name is Sara, I am 27 years old, I was born in Barcelona and for the past 3 years have been based in New Zealand. I work freelance in a photography department and take part in any project that I can as long as it gives me the occasion to travel. Although Barcelona has a huge Surf culture it wasn’t until 2014 that I took interest in it.
It was during a month-long road trip along the south west coast of England that my partner decided that he wanted to surf. It was by chance that we discovered amazing bays that we had to cross fields and fields to reach. Actually that was the part of the adventure that I enjoyed the most .
Four years later and after having discovered many amazing spots I can say that surfing has really changed me. Nowadays I surf and I love it. I live in a small town where surf is the main interest. The combination of my board, my camera and waves are all I need. I cannot say what I prefer, being on a board or behind a lens, underwater with my fins.
I particularly enjoy seeing women at the line up, if they be ripping it or just learning, whatever the situation it makes me happy. I try to connect with them to get to know a little of their story and ask their permission to shoot them.
For the past three years I have travelled around both of the New Zealand islands, some of the Pacific Islands, Australia and Hawaii. I have tried to capture as many different waves and surf related lifestyle situations as I could. I wish to go on doing that for as long as possible because I love and enjoy every single part of it.
Thank you for letting me be a (small) part of your community.
I’ll see you at the line up.
